1225 – 2015 790 years of a significantly progressive modern city

  1. Hradec Králové is the natural regional and administrative centre of East Bohemia with a wide ranging catchment area and easy commuting to schools and work. The area has a radius of 60 km
  2. Hradec Králové as a city of cultural tourism and an attractive tourist destination has traditionally been among the most visited cities in the Czech Republic
  3. Hradec Králové is a town with much greenery; there are many orchards and it lies at the confluence of two rivers, the Elbe and Orlice. It has significant natural potential, including forests, parks and recreational water areas within the city vicinity
  4. Hradec Králové has always been regarded as the city with the best quality of life and the highest level of safety
  5. Hradec Králové is the seat of six faculties for three universities – The Medicine and Pharmacy Faculty of Charles University, The Faculty of Military Medicine, The University of Defence and three faculties of The University of Hradec Králové (for Education, Philosophy, Informatics and Management). The total number of students attending these universities each year is 10,000; from the Czech Republic and also from abroad within various student exchange programmes
  6. Hradec Králové has a dense network of coherent cycle paths - The city is on an important cycling corridor, the Elbe Trail – Elbeadweg and was the first city in the CR to use the trail logo
  7. Hradec Králové has a wide ranging and diverse offer of cultural and social events:
    In addition to approximately 20 cultural events each day, selected and prestigious cultural events are granted the Regina status, which represents 30 major annual events with certain privileges. There is more than 15 years experience in organizing international festivals which each year attract leading artists in their various genres to the city each year. The top 10 events include the Theatre European Region, Jazz Goes to Town, Music Forum Hradec Králové etc.
  8. The environmental quality of the city which has no serious air or water pollution and strongly protects valuable natural sites
  9. The existing city partnership and its organisations with public and private entities operating in the city on joint projects
