Members of the City Council

The Board of Representatives elected the City Council at its constitution meeting on November 6th 2006. The Council has 11 members and is composed of the Mayor, Deputy Mayors and Councilors.

The Council of the City of Hradec Králové is an executive body in the sphere of independent activity of the Municipality. The City Council is not authorized to make decisions concerning delegated activity (state administration), with the exclusion of issuing binding public notices. If a representative loses his mandate, at the same time he loses his membership in the City Council as well. If the Mayor or a Deputy Mayor is withdrawn or he resignes from his position, he ceases his membership in the Council as well.

The City Council meets as required, as a rule twice a month on Tuesday between the meetings of the Board of Representatives. The meetings are behind closed doors. The Council decides by the majority of votes of all its members. In executing the independent activity the Council is responsible (accounts) to the Board of Representatives. In executing the delegated activity the Council is subordinated to the District Office.
The jurisdiction of the City Council is specified by the Act of Paliament No. 128/2000.
