Giessen

The university town of Giessen is the centre of the province of Central Hessen and is situated on the river Lahn, north of the city of Franfurt. It became the partner town of Hradec Králové in 1990. The contacts between the city representatives are lively, and also other groups of citizens are involved in these exchanges, for example sport groups, or school children. Since 2003 the mayor of the city has been Mr. Heinz-Peter Haumann.
