Czech Army transmitted the premises of Vrbenský barracs to the city a few years ago, which was approved by the government in December 2008.
The city wants to find an investor coming with the idea of using the premises. It is an old army building, which is owing to its process layout suitable for e. g. offices or education. The building is situated in the urban conservation area, therefore it is necessary to follow instructions of monument conservation authorities. Deteriorating premises are supposed to serve to citizens in the future.
„The city hasn´t allocated funds for regeneration in the budget, proposed selling price will cover transmission costs and the city will not bear any loss,“ confirmed Jindřich Frydrych, head of economic department. Owing to the bad condition of premises, it is estimated that the costs of regeneration of barracs could amount to 100 – 200 million.
„Selection procedure will take into account not only the offer price, but also the submitted proposal of use of premises. Conditions of selection procedure will eventualy prefer social, health or educational projects,“ said Ondřej Votroubek, head of municipal property administration.
In February the City Council aprroved the composition of committee for assessment of tenders for investor and future buyer of the Vrbenský barracs area. If everything goes well, approximately in the middle of this year we will be quite clear about the use of the premises.

The first step for the change of Vrbenský barracs was made on the 22nd of February 2011. The City Board approved
proposal of inviting tenders for sale and selection of investor of reconstruction. The minimum price was set to 15 013
800 Kč.
