In a short time dilapidated walls and jungle on the terraces next to the seat of the Hradec Králové Region and
opposite the winter stadium will be over. Gradual reconstruction of city walls, begun in 2006, has been going on. In
the autumn the reconstruction of terraces under canonry houses will be finished. Money will be provided by the European
Union, as well.
The reconstruction of terraces, begun in the autumn last year, will be proceeding till the end of this year, at the latest,“said Valentýn Avramov, head of investment department of the municipality. „We must meet the deadline. Currently there´s nothing that should stop the work. It will be finished till the end of November,“ confirmed Petr Jedlinský working for the building company reconstructing the terraces. For a long time being a dilapidated locality, formerly even the vineyard, it will become the resting area. In the new park people will enjoy sitting on benches and watching water in fountains. There will be a staircase with a pergola and a pavillon situated on the place where the remnants of bastion have been dug up by archaeologists. Steel and wooden construction of the pavillon will be decorated with climbing flowers. City wall adjacent to the pavement will be repaired, as well.
„We had the special gothic bricks produced to resemble the ancient times. We´ve ordered them and we´ll get them in two months. Jointing will have to be old-time, as well,“ said Petr Jedlinský. Entry to the garden will be situated on the adjacent staircase opposite the winter stadium.
The costs of the reconstruction of the terraces under the canonry houses amount to about18 million CZK including VAT. Much of the financial resources (14 million CZK) have been allocated from European funds. The city submitted the grant application in August 2010 and grant contract was concluded in March this year.
The walls near the Adalbertinum parking where the slumping took place a few days ago will undergo the overall reconstruction next year. The place has been provided with necessary safety measures.
