Then anti-chinese uprising in Tibetan capital Lhasa had been suppressed, resulting in expatriation of the highest representative of Tibet, the forteenth Dalai Lama. The worldwide Tibetan Flag Campaign started in Western Europe in the mid-nineties of the last century aiming to point out to the longterm infringement of human rights in Tibet.
The Czech Republic has joined the campaign since 1996 and last year Hradec Králové was one of 364 local and regional authorities supporting the campaign.


On Thursday the 10th of March representatives of the city led by Zdeněk Fink, Mayor of Hradec Králové, hoisted the
Tibetan Flag in front of the municipality. This year again Hradec Králové joins the other democratic countries of the
whole world in the symbolic Tibetan Flag Campaign commemorating the year 1959.
