Trade and Services
The city was an important medieval center of trade, and this function has remained till today. In addition to the usual shopping network in Hradec Králové, almost all supermarket and hypermarket chains with business activities in the Czech Republic are represented here. Among the largest shopping centers are Hornbach, Hypertesco, Hypernova, Baumax, Carrefour, Tesco, and OBI. The average area of a retail trade unit in Hradec Králové was 173 m2 in 2005, a shopping area of 1.72 m2 relating to one inhabitant. The highest share of the sales area is taken by food goods (28 %).Near the city center there are large high-standard facilities, the so-called Aldis Congress Center, suitable for specialist congresses, symposia, seminars, and also sales exhibitions.

There are 25 specialized financial institutions here (building societies, insurance institutions).There are 8 hotels of a higher category.
